More Reading

Ds favorite books are animal books. His Grandpa (my dad) is giving ds these books to J. Grandpa gets 3 every few months from Reader Digest, he reads them & gives them to J for his library.

Here are some facts:
Giraffes (favorite African Savanna animal)
Body-giraffes & humans have 7 bones in their necks. There's are much longer of course.
Their tongues are 18 inches long.

Sleep-they sleep from 1-12 minutes in a deep sleep & only for about 20 minutes a night. They may keep one eye open for predators.

Pregnant Mommies-they carry their young in the womb for 14 months.

They can jump over objects as high as 6 feet

Relative-their only relation is the okapi.

Tigers
Their paws measure up to 12 inches wide.

They have 26 teeth including 4 fangs that are 4 inches long-as long as a dollar bill.

A new tiger was discovered in 2004-the Malayan Tiger.

They can eat 45lbs a meat a night that equals 180 quarter-pounders.

J & I saw a white tiger in Nampa, Idaho when he was almost two.

Pigs (favorite farm animal)
There are 500 breeds of domestic pigs.

A white skinned pig can get sunburned.

There are pink pigs, black, brown, red, red-yellow & blue-gray.

Pigs keep cool in a muddy bath. Something to remember when the temps. hit 105.

The biggest pig on record-a Poland China hog weighing in at 2,552. His name Big Bill. That is a lot of pork

Baby Boars are called boarlets & their fur is striped until about 3 months.

Pigs make great family pets (dh won't let me have one)

Do you have a favorite animal?
