~Saturday Musings~

Saturday marches on.  Although it doesn't feel like Saturday with husband being gone today. Finally dressed and left to stop by St. Clements Boutique (aka St. Clements Thrift store...boutique is so much more chic), only to find they were closing an hour early for a church event, a 30th Anniversary vow renewal of a very lovely couple in our Parish.  Continue on to Safeway where hamburger was on sale, but only in large packages. But chuck roast were on sale. I have been craving a beef roast for the longest of time.  Bought one last night at another store but went ahead and bought a second one (glad I did not spend my money at the Thrift store). Both were under $8. One for tonight and one for the freezer. Run vacuum, started chuck roast in crock pot and boiled potatoes.

Call me old fashioned but I do enjoy setting a pretty table for dinner. Whether it is for a holiday or just my family.  Using this and that, mixing and matching to create a pretty tablescape.  I enjoy it. When husband arrives home I want him to feel welcomed and often comments, "house is cozy tonight." This is a long day for him, the Vestry Planning Retreat is a hour from home, gone from 8 in the morning until about 5 P.M., a full work day. I'm excited to hear about it this evening over a glass of wine....which red should I serve? At my suggestion and because he has oodles of vacation time, he took Monday off.

This is a new adventure for us, both involved in a church together and an Episcopal Church. A lot of the newness has worn off but still so much to learn about this denomination. It's an exciting time for St. Clement's. New Priest (part-time and short term, 18 months), new Vestry voted in, two of them new too church. Attendance I think is up a bit, have seen visitors in the past month.  Almost 50 pledges turned in for the budget year and surpassed the goal of a annual budget.  A building loan paid half done with projection of being nearly paid off in two years.  A strong commitment this church has. To the weekly Eucharist, general running of the church, financial, and outreach. Whether you supply donuts for the coffee hour or help in thrift store or read scriptures or proofread the Lectionary Bible Study (St. Clements produces and publish a Bible study book) or usher, all are lay ministers. Each member is a lay minister.  Each one of us are a living breathing moving functional part of the Church body with Christ as the head.  In this church I feel it, see it and am connected to it.  I get it and understand it.

A Liturgical service with sound doctrine, traditional worship and reverence is what I needed. I did not know this about me, but yet I did and it makes sense why I am here at St. Clements, right where I belong.

~Stop the World, I want Off~

My personal feeling at this point the pandemic is the crisis is over or close to it. At least where I live. Time to get back to normal, not ...
