Last day of a therapeutic weekend. After the elections and other bothersome stuff it really is what I needed for my brain to settle down to a dull roar. And after the election negativity I found myself noticing and appreciating some sweet sights and sounds.
The two ladies chatting together on a Saturday morning, dog patiently waiting, perhaps they were out walking and stop to chat.
The pink roses on the cement rail fence that wraps around St. Clement's Episcopal Church property.
Old-timey music on the radio while driving to the Daughters of the King monthly meeting.
Sun streaming into portable where we meet, six of us ladies gathered around the table beading Anglican prayer beads. Sharing coffee cake, coffee and persimmons cakes while conversing. Warm and comfortable. The world and all it's crud outside for a blessed and peaceful two hours.
The crunching of leaves, the sound of feet upon the hard sandy path of the Corner Garden Park.
Recent rains have brought green to the brown dried and tired looking lawn in our backyard and at church.
The rich sounds of Classical music.
Fr. Jimi sharing a story at the start of his sermon, breaking down in tears as he shared how God healed his knee. Fr. Jimi singing parts of the Eucharist. His Fijian accent and booming voice.
The choir doing a Hebrew hymn and a clapping out the rhythm.
Watching movies with family. Playing checkers with my son.
The taste of Sharp Provolone cheese. Good coffee. Salty foods. Sweet foods.
Playing Christmas songs on the Ukulele.
The feel of reading material in my hands.
Smells: Soap. Pork Roasting. Potato casserole baking in church oven. Nature's sweet scents.
This weekend just flowed along. Simple and sweet. No hurrying about.
