~Gardening was my Sabbath Today~

Father's Day has a multitude of memories attached to it.

First there was one Dad, my Dad whom celebrated either in person or by phone throughout the years. Then the most painful Father's Day ever. The day I said good-bye to my Mom forever. Although at the time I did not know how quickly she was to go.  She died three days later.

Then there were two Dads to celebrated.  My Dad and my husband. We had just became Foster parents and were officially parents. The adoption of our baby boy was finalized in December.

Then there were three Dads to celebrate. My Dad, my husband and his Dad.  On Father's Day, a month after his Mom died, my husband and his Dad reconciled. I remember meeting his Dad and his life partner and sitting out on this very patio where I sit right now. Meeting his 5 year old Grandson for the first time.  Our son has lost his Grandma but gained a new Grandpa. It has been wonderful getting to know them and they have enriched my life.

We still celebrate three Dads but all are older now.  No longer do we have a child but now an adult son.  One Grandpa is doing well, slowing down a bit but otherwise doing well.  The other Grandpa (my Dad) slowly leaving us. My husband who is grayer and approaching retirement.

We're home today and will call our Dads later.  My Dad may or may not know it is Father's Day.  Our son is at work, we'll grill burgers when he gets home.  I stayed home from church this morning and garden. Cleaning up the daffodil bed and the area between my garden boxes. I planted the plants I purchased at Amador Flower Farm.

I'll do laundry (toilet overflowed), and bake brownies. Sit outside and be alone with my thoughts and my plants to keep me company. Read. Just be under the blue skies (until it gets to hot). Keep crushing Candy Crush. I'm going to be in this day and let the day unfold and be who it is meant to be.

Happy Father's Day

~Stop the World, I want Off~

My personal feeling at this point the pandemic is the crisis is over or close to it. At least where I live. Time to get back to normal, not ...
